So you want to know what you should be feeding your ferret? The truth is that ferrets are carnivores which means they need meat. Not any old meat though, like just the sausages that are left over from your plate! They also need natural meat, with bones, feathers and fur. This isn't generally available to buy from supermarkets so you will have to comprimise the best you can.

We like to feed ours the best kitten kibble we can - Iams Kitten, Eukanuba Kitten, Arden Grange Kitten or if you can find it James Wellbeloved Ferret Complete or Frankie Ferret Complete. A good source to get these cheap is Ebay. See the separate page for how to buy petfood on ebay.

If you ever go out driving in the country you may be lucky enough to find animals that have been hit by cars and lay dead at the side of the road. While its a sad end for a pheasant or rabbit to end up like that it can be a blessing for your ferret. As long as their are no maggots on the meat and it still looks fair fresh don't be afraid to scoop it up and put it in a plastic bag to take home for your ferrets. Give them the whole lot, you'll be amazed at what they do with it! We always carry a couple of carrier bags in the car for this purpose and its a nice gesture that the animal you found at the side of the road didn't give its life completely in vain.

Think of it as the ultimate in recycling!
